Our first episode under the new brand Her Story Radio is with the incredible Rona Octavia. A woman who lost herself in a relationship only to rediscover herself through adventure and achieve a life-long dream to swim the English Channel, the stretch of water between England and France, approximately 21 miles (32 kilometers) if you get the tides right.

Rona trained for only 9 months before she set off across this treacherous piece of water, navigating tides and shipping containers. Her only defence against the elements was a one-piece swimsuit which meant she needed to acclimatise her body by bathing in icy cold water.

Her Story is not just about achieving her dream, rather it’s about a life of adventure as she continues to discover who she really is and appreciating that we all get lost sometimes. Rona says growing up, there were always family adventures to be had, which included one where her mother sent her out to sea to save her drowning father.

Rona’s story is filled with adventures galore and what’s she has discovered along the way is truly inspirational.

Rona Octavia is the youngest of five girls and her younger years were filled with the arts in all it’s guises and has remained with her throughout her journey to womanhood.

Rona is the author of Knock Me Down and Watch Me Come Back Stronger and Millionaire Jack
